The Bria T. Chism Foundation was established as a memorial to Bria and to provide funding for the Bone Marrow Association, Leukemia Society on a local and/or national level and Children's Mercy Hospital.
Funding will be utilized for research, educational purposes, and to provide awareness of leukemia and bone marrow transplants.
Bria was diagnosed with CML (Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia), in November, 1998. Her only chance of survival was with a bone marrow transplant. A bone marrow donor was located and the transplant performed on May 7, 1999. Bria passed after sustaining complications from the transplant on July 2, 1999, at the age of 6.
